You know, sometimes the grind of everyday life can truly dull one’s senses to what true love is and what it feels like. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden through their disobedience, they plunged mankind into sin and separation from God. All of creation was affected as well. This is why there are diseases, wars, extreme weather, and more. Did you know that God did not originally intend for mankind to work for a living? Work became necessary as a result of sin (Genesis 3:17-19)! So now, working to make sure our lives are the way we want them, dealing with the challenges and disappointments, and getting caught up in the process has caused our senses to become dull to the love of God.
“What do you mean?” “Why are you saying this?” Even though we are saved with the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, it is possible for us to be desensitized to His presence in us and love for us when we focus our energies on the business and circumstances of life. While just sitting watching a television show, the Spirit reminded me of His unconditional, overwhelming love for me,…and I felt so full! So much more than just a religious motion, it literally brought me to tears. There is simply no other feeling on earth that can compare to it! Experiencing the fullness of His “I love you” reminder highlighted the fact that I was beginning to allow myself to get caught up in day-to-day living and stresses instead of living like the daughter of the King that I am.
So, I really wanted to share my “I love you” experience with you, in hopes that it will lead to your own. Taking time to bask in His love is necessary to put everything in our lives in proper perspective. I encourage you to take the time to go deeper…beyond the simple knowing of scriptures…and meditate on His love for you; allow Him to whisper His “I love you” reminder in your spirit. It doesn’t matter what the circumstance; God’s love provides all that is needed when we rest in His love. Love that would save us, redeem us, restore us, re-energize us, and empower us by His grace while asking nothing but love in return…because of Him, we can live totally loved and totally free.
